It’s Friday, Aug. 7, 2026: After more than a decade of waiting, West Chester Borough is on the verge of having its own full-service grocery store, and it couldn’t come at a better time. With the closure of Rite Aid last summer, options to get even a quick beverage or candy bar while downtown have diminished. This week, we get an inside look at what shoppers can expect from the community-owned market, and I see the stocked shelves for myself. I’m already planning for the multitude of errands I can now turn over to my kids. Eggs for brownies? Done. Out of milk? Grab your bike. Opening date is nearing for real this time, and I have all the details you’ll need.
Plus, West Goshen Police address their use of license plate readers, calling them one of the “greatest advances” in police technology; Turks Head Wines is now a full-service restaurant, but here, the wine comes first; another West Chester Little League team has eyes on a World Series run, and Restaurant Inspection reports are out for July. There are many reasons to be concerned this month, not the least of which is the daycare with mouse droppings on the measuring spoons.
