It’s Friday, Oct. 2, 2026: West Chester Restaurant Inspection reports are out for September, and it was a busy month for inspectors. There were 17 restaurants out of compliance last month, including one restaurant with a whopping 23 violations, a couple of complaint calls, and a foodborne illness investigation at the Westtown Amish Market. Chester County Health Department initiated the investigation after two people reported becoming sick after eating at one of the vendors.
Also, West Goshen is preparing for a propane transfer facility to be built right off of Phoenixville Pike. “Based on our review, the plans are compliant,” West Goshen Zoning Officer Shelby Smith shared.
In lighter news, West Chester is a Pennsylvania melting pot with new residents flocking to the area from around the country – the demand is so high it’s made the area one of only five seller’s markets in the country. Perhaps that’s thanks to our fun events like the Chester County Latte Art Throwdown, or our love of birds and jazz, or our local grocery options? You’ve got to admit, we do keep it interesting – and yep, I have stories on all of it in this week’s West Chester Roundup.
Ok, who’s ready? Let’s catch up.

Last weekend marked the end of the Gay St. Closure for 2026. In honor of the occasion, we reviewed a series of planned improvements coming next year (read the full article here). Then we asked you to prioritize them. Among the options provided in the poll question, fixing the intersection at High and Gay St was of the utmost importance, garnering just over 43 percent of the vote.
“Ugly and sunken bricks are a walking hazard,” Mike Rody shared on Facebook.
This was followed by more in-street events and activities and improved signage and aesthetics.
From social media, we received even more ideas. Parking, once again, rose to the top of the issue pile, but there were some suggestions that seem very doable. Among them, keeping the street open during inclement weather and adding trash cans – “More trash cans. Larger trash cans. Anything to keep the trash at bay on a weekend,” Elizabeth Leitch wrote.
Others less so. “Community accessible lavatory facility,” one poster commented. “Where would you build it?” came the reply.
