Ground Provisions opened in 2023 in historic Dilworthtown

Ground Provisions is under new ownership. Last summer, Philly restaurateurs Rich Landau and Kate Jacoby quietly sold their acclaimed suburban spinoff Ground Provisions to two familiar faces. New owners Nora Wilson and Brandon Berigner have worked with Kate and Rich on and off for a decade, including the last three years in Dilworthtown.

“We opened Ground Provisions with them, and they were generous enough to offer us the opportunity to buy [it] from them in July of last year,” said Nora.

The duo is likely familiar to GP regulars. Brandon has served as chef de cuisine since the restaurant’s opening in 2023 and will continue in the role. Nora has pitched in everywhere from prep cook and server to kitchen manager, pastry chef, and general manager. She’ll continue in the latter two roles.

“We both are grateful to have been allowed an integral role in the restaurant since opening, and have no plans for major changes,” she said.

“Our goal is to highlight local produce, and create seasonal vegetable-based tasting menus that rotate frequently. We are so lucky to work with such dedicated farmers [Urban Roots, Green Meadow Farms, and Lancaster Farm Fresh were noted], and such beautiful local produce. It gives us the opportunity to be creative and never get stuck doing the same thing,” she said. While I am sure we are in good hands, if you can’t help but mourn our lost connection to Philly restaurant royalty, here’s a little flashback to 2006 when chicken was king.
