With nothing last summer and COVID variants still haunting this summer, there is something extremely appealing about a low-key outdoor music concert – and lucky for you, West Chester has plenty planned this summer. Bring a blanket; bring a cooler or hit up a food truck; kick off the shoes and lean back and listen.
West Chester Outdoor Summer Concerts
July 22: Music at Marshall Square Park
Marshall Square Park, 6:30 p.m.
After a year of COVID and two weeks of rain, Marshall Square Park resumed its music in the park series last week with a packed house. “Wow! What a night at Marshall Square Park!” Stefanie Heron-Birl of Birl of Birl Girl Designs posted on her Facebook page. Stephanie was on hand offering complimentary face painting to any kids in attendance.
The series continues this week with local favorite, the John Grecia Band. Get there earlier. If last week was any indication, people in this Borough are ready to party.
The concerts are free and open to the public. Music starts at 6:30. Food trucks will be on hand if you would like to make it dinner and a concert.
UPDATE: August 5: Under the Stars
Hoopes Park, 6:30 p.m.
New this year from West Chester Parks and Rec is Under the Stars outdoor concert at Hoopes Park (not to be confused with a 2016 prom theme). The set up here is similar to the Marshall Square Park series – free concert, park, 6:30 start – except this is currently one-time only and at Hoopes Park.
Grab that trusty blanket and cooler and head west to enjoy the New York City acoustic blues duo New Moon while you snack on tasty treats from Dia Doce, Surf n’ Turf, and Mezzaluna Pizza. Each is planning to have a food truck on hand.

August 12 – Music at Marshall Square Park
Marshall Square Park, 6:30 p.m.
The band comes back to Marshall Square Park mid-August for the final concert of this three-part summer series. Like the two before you can view live music from the gazebo, take advantage of a series of on-hand food trucks, and maybe there will even be some surprise entertainment for the kids? You never know.
You can follow the Marshall Square Picnic Concert series on Facebook for the latest updates and band announcements.

September 19 – Turks Head Music Festival
Everhart Park, 12 p.m. to 8 p.m.
Usually held on a Sunday in late July, which can reliably be expected to be the hottest of the summer, the Turks Head Music Festival has been a part of the West Chester summer (on and off) for over 50 years now.
After being cancelled last year, it is back and moved to a hopefully COVID-safe date of September 19. Expect a full day of music, vendors and activities for the kids. More details are expected soon.
Summer is in full swing – and what better way to celebrate that than with a little swing – and jazz – and blues – and rock and roll.
