Spring Paving and Other Things Affecting Your Commute

The Borough has released its spring to do list. It’s got a few paving projects planned, a fairly substantial gas line replacement project, and yard waste collection begins again. Here’s what you need to know:

Gas Line Improvements

The gas line replacement project is actually a PECO project and will take place across roads, sidewalks, and property – anywhere the gas lines run. PECO is relocating its gas lines underground where they will be less susceptible to damage.

If you live in an effected area you will need to provide the Borough and PECO access to your natural gas appliances. Gas service will be turned off while the lines are being moved. The Borough is estimating individual outages will average between four and eight hours.

Gas improvement begin April 9 with E. Biddle St., N. Franklin St., E. Washington St., Evans St., E. Chestnut St. and Patton Ave.

You can find all the details here.

Paving Projects

If disruption is a concern, there could be some positive news in the paving schedule. Outside a couple block stretches on W. Dean St. there doesn’t appear to be any major paving projects in our future. Of course if you were hoping to see a shiny new road in your future you may have to wait a while.

You can find a map of the planned projects below:

Yard Waste Collection

Starting this month the Borough will begin collecting yard waste (sticks, leaves, grass clippings, etc.) twice a month.

Sticks must be less than four feet in length and bundled together using biodegradable twine. Leaves, grass clippings and other yard waste should be collected and stuffed in biodegradable paper bags.

The waste will be collected one Monday and one Friday a month at your regular trash/recycling collection site.

You can find the latest details on any Public Works project on the Borough website.

Plus, West Chester’s affordable new NYC bus service and a little trivia – can you name all 12 of West Chester’s parks?
